Garnder Expected to Re-Launch Carolina Mirror Brand

There has been recent buzz in the industry that Gardner Glass of North Wilkesboro, N.C.
has quietly decided to quit making and marketing framed mirrors under the "Carolina Mirror" name. Not so says company president, Tommy Huskey.

When asked about the future of the Carolina Mirror name, Huskey told USGNN that the company is proud of the name and has no intention of replacing it. He issued the following formal statement to quell the industry talk of the demise of Carolina Mirror:

"During 2005, Gardner Glass Products introduced and implemented The Lean Manufacturing Philosophy, indoctrinated by Toyota many years ago, within its company. Gardner's Lean Manufacturing Vision is highly responsive to the customer, helps in reducing inventory and wasted space and provides an environment for continuous improvement. Gardner's Lean Manufacturing Vision and continuous improvement program, now in place, will be a key to the company remaining competitive and a leader in tomorrow's global marketplace. During the process of this Leaning Initiative, Gardner Glass has prioritized its business segments and has elected to scale down and reinvent its business model for its Carolina Mirror Decorative Products. Our Carolina Mirror business model is in a state of transition, but the demand for Decorative Products continues to grow, and our Carolina Mirror brand name will be in the market in the future to meet this growing demand.
We are very proud to be the owner of the Carolina Mirror brand name, which has thrived in the mirror industry for 70 years. We currently have several marketing initiatives under consideration for a relaunch of this outstanding brand."

Gardner had purchased the right to use the Carolina Mirror name for its framed mirror line in 2002.
