March 26, 2009
After a successful opening yesterday, Glass Expo Northeast continued
strong today, with seminars and a trade show. The event is taking
place at the Hyatt Regency Long Island Wind Watch Hotel & Golf
Club on Long Island (Hauppauge), N.Y.
As part of the architectural seminar track, Nestor Torres, national
architectural manager for PPG Performance Glazings, gave a presentation
titled "Low-E Coatings' Roles in Energy-Efficient Glazing."
Torres talked to attendees about how the use of low-E coatings can
provide added value for customers, making them happy with the final
product. Architects attending the session also were able to earn
one AIA CEU learning unit.
As part of the general business seminar track, Lance Wallach, an
American Institute of CPAs course developer and the National Society
of Accountants Speaker of the Year, presented "IRS Secrets
You Should Know."
Wallach talked to attendees about how smart tax planning strategies
can help reduce chances of an IRS audit and red flags, as well as
ways to pay less in income taxes. He also talked about ways to reduce
insurance costs and provided various tips and techniques for businesses
that will help make tax time less "taxing."
In addition to seminars, the trade show ran until 2 p.m.
