The Glass Association of North America (GANA) was scheduled to
hold its annual Fall Conference this weekend in Dallas, but that
event has been cancelled due to the impending landfall of Hurricane
Rita.
The Category 4 hurricane is expected to make landfall on Saturday
and with many communities in the Gulf Coast still reeling from
Hurricane Katrina, which devastated coastal Louisiana, Mississippi
and Alabama, few are choosing to travel to Dallas for business
and many of those who wish to do so are being prevented from doing
so. According to the GANA website, the "directly related
curtailment of transportation services in the Dallas area"
played a significant role in canceling the conference. More information
about what the cancellation will mean to the industry as well
as how the hurricane effects the industry will be provided as
it becomes available.
