The
Glass Association of North America (GANA) of Topeka, Kan., elected
Valerie Block, senior marketing specialist for DuPont Glass Laminating
Solutions in Wilmington, Del., as chair of the GANA Laminating Division,
according to a February 9 news release. She will assume her new
role with the organization at GANA's upcoming annual conference,
to be held February 20-24 in Sarasota, Fla.
"I am honored to serve as the GANA Laminating Division chair,"
says Block in the release. "I look forward to working with
current and new division members on marketing and technical issues,
and welcome suggestions for future activities that will expand and
strengthen our industry."
Block received her bachelor's degree from Ithaca College, her
master's from the University of Michigan, and a second master's
from the University of Pennsylvania. A longtime member of the glass
and glazing industry, she has worked for DuPont as senior marketing
specialist since 2003. Her past experience includes serving as the
technical director for the former Primary Glass Manufacturers Council,
she is a former chair of the ANSI Z97.1 Accredited Standards Committee,
and has served on numerous ISO and ASTM committees. She succeeds
Michael Burriss of Cytec Industries Inc. as chair of the GANA Laminating
Division.
"Valerie has served GANA in many capacities over the years,"
says Brian Pitman, GANA director of marketing and communications,
in the release. "Most recently, she has chaired the Protective
Glazing Committee and the Glazing Industry Code Committee. Her leadership
and industry knowledge are greatly respected and appreciated."
