March 4, 2011

The Glass Association of North America (GANA) announced that Michael Burriss of Cytec has been elected chair of its Laminating Division, succeeding Cliff Monroe of Arch Aluminum and Glass LLC. Burriss will chair the division’s meeting later this month at Glass Week, scheduled for March 24-27 at the Paris Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Burriss graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Presbyterian College in 1995.  He started out as a coatings formulation chemist at Crown Metro in Greenville, S.C., before moving on to UCB Chemicals in the same role.

In 2000, he was promoted to technical sales representative for the UVEKOL Glass Laminating System. In 2005, Cytec Industries purchased the UCB Chemicals business and in 2006 Burriss moved into market development for the UVEKOL product line. In December of 2010 he was promoted to global market manager for new business development, where he is leading Cytec’s efforts in photovoltaic and glass coatings applications.
