Edgetech "Architektur Fenster Fassade*"
Wins Innovation Prize for Super Spacer® TriSeal

Fassade" innova-tion prize during fensterbau/frontale 2006, held March 22-25
in Nuremberg, Germany. Edgetech, of Cambridge Ohio, spacer took first place in
the "Products of High Architec-tural Quality" category for its Super
According to Edgetech, the competition was created to acknowledge
outer shell solu-tions that particularly meet the needs of architects.
It is intended to highlight the impor-tance of architectural quality
as the basis for market success. Independent architects from Nuremberg,
Munich and Stuttgart judged the competition.
The innovation prize was awarded in two categories. Category 1 focussed
primarily on the "synthesis - cooperation between architects
and industry", with category 2 being dedicated to "products
of high architectural quality".
Edgetech entered its SuperSpacer® TriSeal spacer made
of silicone foam in the prod-uct category.
According to an Edgetech news release, the most challenging part
of the competition was displaying the spacer: it had to be presented
in such a way that it could bear com-parison with other, more "graphic"
products. To this end the company received help from Hero-Glas from
Dersum in Emsland.
"The particularly flexible spacer means that heat [insulating]
panes can be used in curves of virtually any shape. This offers
a simple method of creating forms [that are] more technically complex
and require more material in conventional production. As a result,
it is now much easier to produce free translucent forms in construction,"
the jury concluded.
"We are delighted to have been awarded the innovation prize,
especially as it means that the advantages and added value of our
flexible SuperSpacer® TriSeal spacer have now also been
recognised and acknowledged by architects," said Torsten Keemss,
managing director of Edgetech Europe.
