Dow Corning® 756 SMS Building Sealant Earns SWRI Validation

Based in Midland, Mich., Dow Corning has announced that its 756 SMS Building Sealant has received validation for sealant performance by the Sealant, Waterproofing and Restoration Institute (SWRI).

According to Dow Corning's announcement, SWRI certified the sealant against two ASTM standards:

  • ASTM C 719 (adhesion and cohesion of elastomeric joint sealants under cyclic movement). The sealant passed with more than 50 percent extension and less than 50 percent compression; and

  • ASTM C 661 (test method for indentation hardness of elastomeric-type sealants by means of durometer hardness).The sealant passed with 35 durometer, shore A.

The Dow Corning 756 SMS is a medium-modulus silicone sealant for weatherproofing sensitive porous stone and metal panel substrates.
