Crystal Window & Door Systems Contributes to Quaker
Relief
Employees of Crystal Window & Door in Flushing, N.Y., pooled their
resources to help victims of the recent earthquake in the Sichuan
Province of China. Together, employees donated several thousand
dollars with the company matching their donations for a total of
$9,000.
Isabella Leung, Crystals' manager of human resources, presented
the funds to Sonia Martinez, Manhattan office director and Joan
Foley, Queens office director of the American Red Cross of Greater
New York on June 26 at Crystal's headquarters.
"The China earthquake tragedy hit home for Crystal since a majority
of our employees are Asian," says Leung. "Although Crystal employees
have their own bills to pay and families to support, they all wanted
to do something to help those suffering in China. This donation
reflects the spirit of the people at Crystal-hardworking, eager
to help others however they can."
Crystal employees have donated to the relief efforts of other natural
disasters in the past, including Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the
2004 South Asian tsunami. After the 9/11 attacks the company also
set aside a percentage of its year-end sales, and along wit employee
contributes donated nearly $100,000 to several organizations involved
with recovery efforts.
