Aluminum Issues Statement on Facility Closures
October 30, 2009
Arch Aluminum & Glass Co. Inc. in Tamarac, Fla., issued a statement
today on the recent closure of facilities. The statement is as follows:
During the past year, our industry has been adversely impacted
by declining demand in our end markets. In response, Arch Aluminum
& Glass has taken a series of actions to align our costs
with this reduced demand. In particular, we have selectively
closed or temporarily shuttered certain locations (Kansas City,
KS; Rogers, MN; Nashville, TN; and Sarasota, FL) whose customers
can be fully served and supported by other Arch facilities.
These actions have made Arch a leaner, more competitive company.
Most importantly, these improvements to our cost structure will
allow us to better serve our customers in today's challenging
market environment and will position us to more effectively
capitalize on future opportunities when conditions improve.
