Alcoa Investigating the Sale of Some of its Businesses

According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, Alcoa Inc., parent company of Kawneer North America, has begun working with investment banking experts to investigate selling some of its businesses in the consumer-packaging, and electronic systems areas.

Reportedly, these measures are being taken by Alcoa in an effort to free up resources so that the company can expand its presence in the aerospace market.

The Journal speculated that Alcoa, already a rumored target for takeover within the international mining industry, may become more susceptible to takeover if indeed the company does sell off certain holdings, the article reported.
