Akzo Nobel, Henkel, Announce Price Increases
March 7, 2011
Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals GmbH & Co KG has announced a 15-percent global price increase for all Thioplast products effective March 1, 2011 or as contracts allow.
According to the company’s announcement, this increase has been prompted by a general increase of costs along with a tight supply and demand balance for polysulfide resins. The company says overall demand for these products continues to grow with the recovery of the construction and aerospace industry.
Henkel announced it is implementing a price increase for certain product groups of its industrial adhesives and that increase amounts will vary based on market segment and technology. On average, the price increases will range from 10 to 25 percent. The company says the price increases will affect hotmelts, polyurethane, water-based adhesives and surface treatment products.
According to the company’s announcement, the price increase is attributable to ongoing escalation of raw material costs over the last 15 months.
