Updated Z97.1 Standard Awaits ANSI Approval
December 4, 2009
Having resolved comments from its most recent ballot, the Steering
Committee of the ASC Z97 Committee has forwarded its updated Z97.1
Standard - Safety Glazing Materials Used in Buildings - Safety
Performance Specifications and Methods of Test to ANSI for approval.
Although ANSI must review the new documentation prior to approving
the standard, the Steering Committee anticipates that the revised
standard will be published in the first quarter of 2010. The standard
will be available in electronic form at www.ansiz97.com
or through ANSI itself.
The Steering Committee is planning on reconvening in June or July
2010 to discuss opening the activities for a 2014 version of the
standard, as it is required to be updated or re-approved every 5
years.
The officers of the ASC Z97 committee note that they "are extremely
grateful to the committee members for all their time and effort
that they put into developing this version of the standard, especially
to those task group chairs and members of the Steering Committee
who had to put in extra duty many times to get us to this new version."
