of 2009 Edition of the Source®
June 11, 2010
The Americas Glass Association (AGA) announced that the 2009 edition
of the Source® is available for immediate shipping. Sold exclusively
through the AGA, the Source provides an easy-to-understand interpretation
of the 2009 International Building Code (IBC) and includes helpful
artwork and drawings included.
According to information from the AGA, the California Contractor
State License Board includes the Source on its list of exam study
guides resources and it is supported by the International Code Council.
The author, Donn Harter president and technical director for California/Americas
Glass Association has 59 years of experience in the glazing trade
and in 1967 he did the first interpretive drawing of a "glass
dividing member" for the Los Angeles County Building Department.
Shortly thereafter, the International Building Code Conference (ICBO)
(producers of the Uniform Building Code®) contacted Harter to
seek his services in interpreting confusing portions of the glazing
codes. This resulted in the development of the Source as an interpretation
of the safety glazing codes and standards.
In the ensuing years, Harter with the aid of the California Glass
Association and the AGA formed the Glazing Industry Codes Association
and the Fire and Safety Glazing Association.
