Fall Conference Kicks Off in San Antonio
The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) is
holding its fall conference this week in San Antonio, Texas, at
the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort. Yesterday, several rounds
of meetings were held, along with a welcome reception. Among the
numerous meetings held was one of the association's newest groups-the
Green and Sustainability Procedural Guide Development Task Group.
Chaired by Dave Moyer of Architectural Testing in York, Pa., one
major topic of discussion of the group was whether companies who
achieve the green certification should be inspected twice a year,
as was originally suggested, or more-up to three or four times.
However, most in the room were in favor of leaving the inspection
frequency at twice per year-as was evidenced by a straw pole held

In addition, the group clarified the ultimate goal of the group-to
develop a certification for finished fenestration products. One
attendee asked if components would be considered "green"
"The certification would apply to a product-a finished product,"
But, he reminded attendees that this procedure is still early in
the process and the procedural guide/specification is still in the
"All of these communications are being recorded, though, so
that when we get to that point, they can be taken under consideration,"
"These comments need to be coming in continuously, not just
when we have the annual meeting," he said.
The conference continues through Wednesday, September 24. Stay
